What is the Ripehouse Street Score (0–100)?

The Ripehouse Street Score is a 0-to-100 block-level rating that measures how an individual Australian residential street compares with the rest of its suburb across four tests: owner-occupier share (>65%), public housing concentration (≤5%), median weekly rent, and gross rental yield. Every G-NAF address on the street is matched to its ABS 2021 Mesh Block and SA1 census area, and the Street Score is the address-weighted average across those blocks. It covers 518,400+ Australian streets, including quiet streets with no recent sales history.

Why street-level scoring matters more than suburb averages

In almost every Australian suburb, public housing and high-density rental flats are clustered into specific ABS SA1 census blocks rather than spread evenly. A buyer relying only on a suburb’s median price can inadvertently buy right inside a 20%-public-housing block. Checking the Street Score before inspecting a property surfaces that block-level reality immediately.
